The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed journal is a critical aspect of scholarly communication for our journal, International Journal of Economic and Business Insight (IJEBSI). It is essential to establish standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the publishing process: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, and publishers.
IJEBSI is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures to prevent publication malpractices. The Editorial Board is responsible for preventing such malpractice. Unethical behavior, including plagiarism in any form, is not tolerated. By submitting articles, authors affirm that the contents of their manuscripts are original and that the manuscript has not been previously published in any language, either wholly or partially, nor is it currently submitted for publication elsewhere.
The editorial team, authors, and reviewers within IJEBSI are fully committed to good publication practices and accept responsibility for fulfilling the duties and responsibilities set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Code of Conduct for Journal Editors. The COPE guidelines can be accessed at publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines.
Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of an article in the peer-reviewed journals published by IJEBSI signifies an important advancement in knowledge. It reflects the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles embody the scientific method, and it is crucial to agree upon standards of ethical behavior for all involved parties: authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and the academic community.
IJEBSI takes its responsibilities at all stages of publishing very seriously and recognizes its ethical obligations.
We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprints, or other commercial revenues do not influence editorial decisions. The Editorial Board will facilitate communication with other journals and/or publishers as necessary.
Publication Decisions
The editor of IJEBSI is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to the journal should be published. This decision is guided by the journal's editorial policies and constrained by relevant legal requirements concerning libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editor may consult other editors or reviewers when making this decision.
Fair Play
Editors will evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, and other editorial advisers, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in the editor's research without the author's express written consent.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review aids the editor in making informed editorial decisions and may also help the author improve the paper through editorial communications.
Promptness
Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to review the research in a manuscript or knows that a prompt review will be impossible must notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shown or discussed with others, except as authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, without personal criticism of the author. Reviewers should present their views clearly, supported by appropriate arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any claims that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously reported should be accompanied by the appropriate citation. Reviewers should also notify the editor of any significant similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published work of which they have knowledge.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must remain confidential and not be used for personal gain. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions involved.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors of original research reports must present an accurate account of the work conducted, as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be accurately represented in the manuscript. Sufficient detail and references should be provided to enable replication of the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are considered unethical behavior and are unacceptable.
Data Access and Retention
Authors must be prepared to provide the raw data in connection with a manuscript for editorial review and should ensure public access to such data (consistent with the ALPSP-STM Statement on Data and Databases), if feasible. They should also retain such data for a reasonable time post-publication.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure their works are entirely original and appropriately cite or quote any work and/or words from others.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not publish manuscripts that describe essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of others' work must always be provided. Authors should cite publications that have significantly influenced their work.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All individuals who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Those who contributed to specific aspects of the research project should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author must ensure all co-authors are included and have approved the final version of the manuscript, agreeing to its submission for publication.
Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects
If the research involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment that pose any unusual hazards, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should also be disclosed.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When an author identifies a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
